Students from schools and colleges below the age of 18, who aren’t eligible for the coronavirus vaccine, have been permitted to use the local train services in Mumbai from today, October 21.

Last week, the Maharashtra government undertook some additions to the sections permitted for services that were limited to those fully inoculated.

Apart from those who are fully vaccinated and have completed 14 days since, even those individuals who aren’t able to take a vaccine owing to medical conditions, with a doctor’s certificate to confer this in addition to those below the age of 18 and are thus not eligible for vaccination will be treated equally to utilize certain services. These services comprise local train travel, entry to temples in some districts, malls, auditoriums, restaurants, wedding halls as well as multiplexes.

However, many students are still not aware about how to get a local train pass easily. For this, only a few easy steps have to be followed:

How to make a student local train pass:

  • Go to your nearest railway station’s ticket counter
  • At the counter, your age will be verified through Aadhar card and school/college Id
  • If you’d be eligible for the pass, you can easily get the monthly pass from the counter as per your route.

Here are the things to keep in mind:

Railway officials will check their Aadhar card and school ID card to check their age while allowing entry to the students at the stations.

Tickets will be issued month wise at the counter. There are no daily tickets or quarterly or yearly passes available at the moment.
