IIT-Bombay's college festival 'Mood Indigo 2020' to be hosted online

This year, IIT-B celebrates 50th year of the festival, and amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the team has decided to celebrate Mood Indigo online on December 26 and 27, 2020. The theme for Mood Indigo this year will be 'Ek Sunehara Caravan'.

Mumbai's popular college, the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) has bee known for its most famous college festival in the country, Mood Indigo. This year, the institute celebrates 50th year of the festival, and amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the team at IIT-B has decided to celebrate this golden jubilee year online. The theme for Mood Indigo this year will be 'Ek Sunehara Caravan'.

Mood Indigo 2020 will be online on December 26 and 27 and the year would be important for all students and the staff members. Every year, Mood Indigo is attended by artists from more than 40 countries around the world and more than 146,000 students from India.

Sharing the information about going digital, the team, on the official website of Mood Indigo stated, "We choose to accept challenges and keep moving forward, savour every bit of the journey because The Show must go on! Presenting the greatest experience you will ever have, right from the comfort of your homes, the virtual edition of the 50th Mood Indigo: Ek Sunhera Karwaan. Witness an entrée of Indian and global culture, grilled to perfection with the fire of friendship and delectably sprinkled with happiness, connection, awe, ecstasy, and nostalgia, a bite of which would provide an escape from your daily life into paradise."

Adding more about the theme, the team mentioned, "Mood Indigo has been around for 50 glorious years now, as a celebration of life, and people - the people who build it, the artists and the stars who win all our hearts and most importantly, the lovely people who keep coming back, the moments they share, the experiences they have and the strings that keep them connected forever to the 4 best days of their lives. It is you who make Mood Indigo the spectacle it is. Ek Sunhera Karwaan is the nostalgic celebration of this remarkable journey, the festival as a celebration of the strings that connect people to weave this beautiful tapestry of experiences year after year."

This year, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the team is doing its best to ensure Mood Indigo 2020 is enjoyed in a similar manner through online celebrations. Officials at the institute are planning to make this event more accessible to as many students as possible in India, and till date, they have reached one-lakh people through previous years' celebrations. With this years' efforts, Mood Indigo will once again become a trendsetter.

Reports state that celebrated personalities from India were brought at the Mood Indigo each year, and besides this, the team also invites international dignitaries as chief guests. In the past, Mood Indigo's team has set a record which has become a part of the Guinness Book of World Records, and until date, popular names like Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Devendra Fadnavis, Devdutt Patnaik, Zakir Khan, Biswa Kalyan Rath and others have been a part of the celebrations.
