State government announces rules for HSC and SSC board examinations

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has decided that the examinations for Class 10 students  will start from 29th April and for Class 12 from 23rd April. 

Coronavirus cases in the state have been increasing and safety regulations have been issued to the officials which will have to be followed while conducting these offline examinations. There will be a practical examination for the students of class XII and an internal assessment will be held for the students of class X, instead of a practical examination.

School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted about the new rules and stated that given the COVID-19 situation, it is difficult to take the practical exam this year for Class 10. Hence students will have to be given concession. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided that the internal assignments will be conducted for the the students instead of the practical examinations. This will be applicable for the science subjects of class X.

Internal assessments will be conducted basis on the written test, which will be held between May 21 to June 10, 2021. The planning for the same will be done by the concerned school. In the meantime, if the student is ill, an additional 15 days will be given for submission

Meanwhile, there will be a practical examination of class 12 students, as the subjects are important for vocational courses. These exams have not been cancelled. Demonstration books or journals can be submitted after written examination, which are scheduled from May 22 to June 10, 2021. 

Internal and external examiners will be provided from the respective colleges for this examination. Demonstration books and examinations will be held in phases and batches. In the meantime, all security rules will be followed. There will be more time given for the exams  this year and as per reports, this has been extended by 30 minutes for 80 marks written test and 15 minutes more for solving 40-50 mark question paper. 

There will be no additional charge for special examinations conducted for students infected with COVID-19, however these will be held at selected examination centers and the examination period will be shorter. as well. 

Students must arrive at the examination centre at least one hour in advance to follow the COVID-19 rules and  will be given question papers 10 minutes in advance as well.
