Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Avinash Dhakne, the Municipal Corporation’s Education Department provides education in eight languages, Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, English, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The civic body also runs schools affiliated with four education boards: SSC, CBSE, ICSE and IB.
With the objective of ensuring a bright future for students, the Municipal Education Department undertakes various academic initiatives. As students from SSC board schools are appearing for the Class 10 examinations this year, the department is making positive efforts at multiple levels, including conducting special coaching classes, practice sessions for solving question paper sets, and guidance from expert teachers. Students of the Secondary School Certificate Board have been benefiting from these initiatives for several years, resulting in the pass percentage reaching 93 per cent.
Students appearing for the Class 10 examinations under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now also be covered under special initiatives. The CBSE Class 10 examinations are scheduled to be held from February 17 to March 11, 2026. Special guidance sessions on solving question papers have been organised for these students, with teachers from municipal schools conducting regular practice sessions. Greater emphasis is being placed on subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, and Information and Communication Technology.
In addition, support is being taken from expert teachers from select private CBSE schools. These experts are providing students with special online guidance on answer writing techniques.
