The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that all schools for grades 1 to 7 will reopen from Wednesday, December 15. Earlier the Maharashtra government had decided to reopen schools for primary students from December 1, in Mumbai.

However, in light of the threat posed by the new variant of COVID-19, Omicron, a decision was undertaken to postpone the reopening of schools.
Previously, on Monday, December 13, the Nashik Municipal Commissioner resumed physical classes for grades 1-7.
