In view of the examinations that are to be conducted by Mumbai University, fresh guidelines have been issued on Tuesday. This comes two weeks after the Supreme Court clarified that final year students can only be promoted based on examinations.

As per the guidelines, regular theory exams will be held from October 1 to 17, while backlog exams will be held from September 25 in a multiple-choice manner. All the theory exams will be for 50 marks and will last for an hour.

On Tuesday, September 8, Mumbai University issued a circular regarding the organization of the examinations. Examinations are to be conducted at the college level in a cluster system. This means that there will be one lead college and 6 to 7 schools in the area. In this one cluster, examinations will be held one at a time, according to the schedule. Question papers will also be cluster wise. Students will receive instructions from their college regarding the same.

Moreover, all the theory examinations will be based on the syllabus taught in the college till March 13, 2020. Also, they are to be taken online. Furthermore, the university has directed the colleges to start the backlog examinations from September 25, 2020. However, if the college has taken the backlog student exams in February-March 2020, then it does not need to be taken again.

In addition, all the MU affiliated colleges will have to conduct an online survey in order to find out where the students are residing at present as a consequence of the lockdown, and what gadgets along internet facilities are available for each student in order to find out how many of them can appear for the online examinations.
