In the last few months, Mumbai University has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, be it delayed results or missing answer sheets

These very events have impacted the global rankings of Varsity, as the ranking has dropped from 145 to 181 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2018. QS, a British company, released the results of Asia University Rankings on Monday, October 16, 2017.

As per the report published in Mumbai Mirror, MU’s decision of bringing in On-Screen marketing (OSM) system delayed results which in turn made the vice-chancellor leave and now the University is functioning without a VC.

Another professor spoke to Mumbai Mirror, "How will the varsity function properly in the absence of Senate, Academic Council, Management Council and other such bodies? This is the situation in almost all public universities in the state. It is high time the government took things seriously.”

At the same time, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay was ranked 34th in Asia as the best Indian university in the QS Asian University Rankings for 2018.
