Mumbai University has been under fire several times for its poor management and irregularity. In one such event, the university has been criticised by its own students after they were marked absent despite appearing for the examinations.

Nine students from Mumbai University-affiliated Bhavan's College at Girgaon had appeared for their Allowed To Keep Term (ATKT) examination in December. The students were from the Science stream and had appeared for the ATKT exams for TYBSc Paper-1 and Paper-2.

Despite sitting for the exams, the results displayed that they had been absent for the same. Upon learning about this, the students were placed in a situation of chaos and confusion. Quickly, the students brought the matter to the attention of concerned authorities.

On the other hand, Mumbai University Public Relations Officer (PRO) Vinod Malale said,

The results for the exams have not been declared yet and the students had pointed out that they were present. Accordingly, we will look into the matter and see what problem occurred during the process."

Accordingly, the students showed their hall tickets which consisted of the examiners' signatures. However, the students did not receive any justification from the University and so, they have decided to approach the Governor.
