After former Mumbai University’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Sanjay Deshmukh resigned, there has been a lot of talk about who is going to be appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor.

Earlier, many student organisations protested to the media about their demands for appointing a full-time Vice Chancellor and finally, the Mumbai University’s administration has started the process for the appointment. It has come out that, on April 13, 32 candidates will be interviewed for the post of VC.

After the interviews, five candidates will be selected and their names will be sent to the Governor on April 14.

The new VC will be announced at Raj Bhawan.

For the selection of the VC, Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao has formed a committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Kasturirangan. Almost 32 people appealed to the committee for the post and many of them were professors and Head of the departments (HODs) at Mumbai University. Teachers from Nagpur University also appealed to the committee for the same.
