In the aftermath of student protests erupting in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra demanding online board exams, state school education minister Varsha Gaikwad reportedly mentioned that the decision to undertake offline board exams was undertaken following the suggestions of an expert panel.

According to accounts, Gaikwad added that there are more than 15 lakh students each in the SSC and HSC board who take the examination yearly. She further elucidated that considering preparations for the examinations commence three months prior a format change could lead to confusion and panic among the pupils.

Based on narratives, the school education minister remarked that she is available to meet anyone who has any doubts or apprehensions concerning exams. She believes that there is no need for students to protest considering the MVA government is there to speak to them.

It has been reported she stated that the exams have been scheduled in such a manner that the next academic year commences on time.

Previously, on Monday, January 31, nearly 1,000 to 1,500 students gathered outside the Dharavi residence of state School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad between 12 pm to 4 pm to press their demands. Following this, the Mumbai Police on Tuesday, February 1, arrested Youtuber Hindustani Bhau aka Vikas Phatak for allegedly instigating students to protest.
