The Elephant Whisperers, which was nominated for Best Documentary Short Film, has won an Oscar. The short documentary was contending against ‘Haulout’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’ (Jay Rosenblatt Films), ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect” (Netflix)’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate’.

The Elephant Whisperers showcases the 140-year-old Theppakadu elephant camp in Tamil Nadu where Bomman and Bellie lovingly take care of baby elephants that have separated from their tribe.
It is a 2022 Indian-American short documentary film directed by documentary filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves. Produced by Sikhya Entertainment, the film had its world premiere on 9 November 2022 at DOC NYC Film Festival, a film festival for documentaries in the United States. On December 8, 2022, the film was released by Netflix globally for streaming.
