Adil Hussain to be a part of Bauddhayan Mukherjis project titled Marichjhapi

The announcement of the film was made recently at the Busan film festival and it is said that the story revolves around the 1979 Marichjhapi island incident.

Popular actor Adil Hussain who has been seen in many films will soon be a part of director Bauddhayan Mukherjis project titled Marichjhapi. This film is said to be one of the new projects introduced this week at the Busan International Film Festivals Asian Project Market.

As mentioned in a popular publication, the film will focus on the Marichjhapi island incident which happened in January 1979 where the refugees located in the Sundarbans delta between India and Bangladesh, woke up to find police boats surrounding their island.

Sharing the news, Hussain took to Twitter to share the news among his followers. “Eager to start shooting for Bauddhayan’s epic untold, rather Suppressed, story of a darkest betrayal in human history in India.”

Written by Abhinandan Banerjee and Mukherji, Marichjhapi is produced by Little Lamb Films on budgeted of over INR 5.65 crore. The trailer of the film was unveiled recently and other actors like Doug Jones, Sonequa Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, David Ajala, Wilson Cruz, and Michelle Yeoh are also a part of this feature. 

Hussain's work has been previously appreciated in films like Life Of Pi, Tigers, Parched and many more. He will soon be seen in an American web series titled Star Trek: Discovery.
