Denying rivalry rumors of any sort, Bengali cine star and National Award winner Rituparna Sengupta, who essayed Begum Jaan in Srijit Mukherji's ‘Rajkahini’, recently met Bollywood's Begum Jaan and even more sportingly posed with her counterpart Vidya Balan who portrays the same role in the eponymous Hindi adaptation ‘Begum Jaan’.

At an event on Monday, Vidya expessed her happiness by saying that she was very glad about doing the adaptation of ‘Rajkahini’ and showed her happiness on being a part of Srijit Mukherji’s first hindi film. She said people have given a lot of love to ‘Rajkahini’, and expects the same or more for ‘Begum Jaan’ as well.

Priyanka Sarkar tweeted, "One story, different languages... Same soul, many bodies... Divine love, diverse expressions... This is to the spirit of 'Begum Jaan'."

Versatile Bengali film industry actress Rituparna Sengupta’s power-park performance in ‘Rajkahini’ went in the good books of critics and audiences which turned out to be a commercial hit and made it to 19 film festivals in 2015.

Mukherji makes his directorial debut through ‘Begum Jaan’ in Hindi film industry, which is produced by Vishesh Films and Play Entertainment. However there has been rumors on Mukherji’s original choice for the title role had recently led to a controversy of bad blood between the two leading ladies.

The film has Vidya Balan playing the role of madam of a brothel who has to survive against the backdrop of the country's Partition in 1947.
"Rajkahini" dealt with the aftermath of partition of Bengal as part of Partition of India in 1947.

The event was also attended by Bengali actress Priyanka Sarkar, and Bollywood actress Gauahar Khan, who is also a part of the hindi adaptation. Begum Jaan hits the cinema screens on 14th April.
