In a recent announcement, renowned actor Paresh Rawal was appointed the new chairman of National School of Drama (NSD). The prestigious institute took to social media to share the news Thursday, September 10.

The announcement read, "We are glad to inform Hon'ble President of India @rashtrapatibhvn has appointed renowned actor & Padma Shri @sirpareshrawal as chairman of @nsd_india. NSD family welcome the legend to shower his guidance to NSD for achieving new heights."

Rawal has been known for his diverse roles delivered over the years, and he has been an artist who has performed both in films and on the stage. The Padma Shri awardee is also a politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and has been awarded the National Film Award in 1994 as Best Supporting Actor for "Woh Chokri" and "Sir".

He started his acting career in the 1980s and has been applauded for his versatility, be it his performances as a villain or a comedian in several Bollywood releases. Some of the films he was appreciated for, include Naam, Aitraaz, Oh My God, Table No. 21, Hera Pheri, Hungama, Aankhen, Awara Pagal Deewana, Malamaal Weekly and many others.
