Khar - It looks like as if preparations are on for a regular show but what makes it stand apart are the artists, they are all transgenders …a community which is now trying to figure out its identity. "Dancing Queens" is an organisation which motivates transgender to come out of the closet by teaching them various forms of dances.
Most of the transgenders have to beg on streets for shagun or work as sex workers. But now various artists not belonging to this community are also coming forward to support this cause. We also came across Madhuri, an endearing dancer who recently tied the knot with Jayesh a 30-year-old mechanic from Mumbai and both are looking forward to lead a happy life.
Dancing Queens along with Humsafar trust organise dance training workshops all over Mumbai and they are also getting opportunities to showcase their talents in various resto bars of the city.
They were human, they are human, being transgender does not make them any less human.
