Indian singer and composer Amar Singh Chamkila was once a big name in the Punjabi music world. He was the highest selling record artist of Punjab. He and his wife Amarjot Kaur was assassinated on March 8, 1988.
The teaser of the movie 'Amar Singh Chamkila' was released last year, ever since then people were eagerly waiting for this movie. Recently Netflix shared the release date of this movie through their official social media account. Sharing a special video, the film's poster and release date have been announced.
Initially the film was supposed to hit the big screen but then due to some reason the makers decided to make the film for OTT only. The film will be available on the Netflix OTT platform from April 12. Directed by Imtiaz Ali and A. R. Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra will be seen in the lead roles in the film, which has music by Rahman.

Amar Singh Chamkila is considered to be one of the best live stage singers of Punjab ever. It was very popular among small village audiences in Punjab. The Punjabi village where he grew up. 8 March 1988 is a day Amar Singh Chamkila fans can never forget. Amar Singh along with his wife Amarjot was coming to Mehsampur in Punjab for an event. They left their car around two in the morning, but as soon as they got out of the car, they were shot at and both died on the spot. Other people were also injured in this incident. No one has been arrested in this case so far. It is said that this incident was done by Sikh terrorists but why was Amar Singh Chamkila still killed? The mystery is still not resolved.
