Kavi Kumar Azad aka 'Dr. Hathi' from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma dies of a heart attack

Kavi Kumar Azad popularly known as 'Dr. Hansraj Hathi' from Sab TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma breathed his last today. The actor passed away due to a heart attack and was admitted to Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road, Mumbai.

The actor was unwell for three days and slipped into a coma last night.

He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for the shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything," says Asit Modi, Producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.

He had replaced actor Nirmal Soni, who used to essay the character of Dr. Hathi in the year 2009.Since then he was an integral part of the Tarak Mehta Family who entertained everyone with his style. Recently there was a celebration on the sets of the show for successfully completing 2500 episodes.

Apart from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, Azad was also a part of films like Mela and Funtoosh.
