India's legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar, has been diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, and as per reports released on Tuesday, January 11, 2021, the singer has been admitted at a  hospital in the city. It is being said that Mangeshkar has mild infection and is undergoing treatment in the ICU if Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. 

In the latest update, the singer, also popularly known as Lata didi, continues to be in the ICU ward. She will be under observation for 10-12 days. Along with COVID, she is also suffering from pneumonia, Dr Pratit Samdhani, who is treating her at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, was quoted by ANI. 

Information regarding the same was shared by her niece Rachna, who in a conversation with ANI confirmed that the singer was admitted in the ICU for precuationary reasons and was doing fine. Doctors had suggested her the same keeping age considerations in mind. "Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers." she added.

Sources from the industry have also mentioned that she is asymptomatic and has shown the need for oxygen support. A team of experts at the hospital are monitoring her health regularly. Meanwhile, a report published in the Times of India also mentioned that Mangeshkar was suffering from pneumonia and that she was admitted in the hospital in the night on Saturday, January 8, 2021. One of the doctors from the hospital also confirmed the admission and informed about the pneumonia infection.

Mangeshkar recently celebrated her 92nd birthday in the presence of her family members, in an intimate celebration. However, several fans and well-wishes shared their wishes and love on social media. Owing to her poor health and breathing problems, she was admitted at a hospital in Mumbai, in November 2019, and her younger sister Usha Mangeshkar, later confirmed that she was diagnosed with a viral infection.
