Marine lines - Liberty theatre at new marine lines is well known for its architectural heritage. red carpeted floors, glittering decoration. But with time the glitter got dim. Liberty could not compete with multiplexes and pulled down curtains in 2012. After four years liberty is revived to release Aamir khans ambitious movie 'Dangal'. There are many changes made in this theatre including state of the art projectors but old European Art deco style sitting arrangement of push back chairs is retained. Audience capacity of this theatre is of 2000. The theatre was designed and built by Habeeb Hussain in 1947 who named this theatre 'Liberty' to commemorate India's independence. The first movie which released here was Andaz by Mehboob Khan. And on 5th august, Rajshri production's magnum opus Hum apke hai koun was released. Though for past 4 years the theatre was not showing any movies it hosted quite a few events which will continue even now.
