Papon kissing controversy: The musician steps down as reality show judge

Papon - a Bollywood singer and judge of singing reality TV show 'The Voice of India Kids -2' has stepped down as the judge after he was accused of molesting one of the minor contestants on the show. He published a post saying the same.


After the video went viral, Supreme Court lawyer Runa Bhuyan filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights against Papon under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act.

The minor child who could be seen in the video with Papon declared him as innocent. Post the controversy, a video was published where the girl remarked that "Papon sir" did not do anything wrong and commented that he loved her just like his father and mother. She pleaded not to misunderstand Papon’s actions.


Recently, in his open letter, Papon wrote that he is very hurt by the accusations and added that showing love for an 11-year-old girl is no alien concept for me.


Bollywood speaks against Papon


Raveena Tandon tweeted that it is sad that Papon controversy happened but it will be an eye-opener.

Main Hoon Na director Farah Khan too commented on Papon’s video saying that she watched the video and did not like what she saw. She added that if it happens to her daughter, then she wouldn't feel completely right. Farah further clarified that she knows Papon is not a pervert but the video makes her uneasy.

Julie 2 director Pankaj Nihalani said that it doesn't matter to celebrities but they should take some precautions while behaving with children. He added that channels should see how minor participants are being treated at the show and what kind of people they are surrounded with.
