Vinod Khanna cremated, Bollywood celebs attend to offer prayers

Bollywood superstar Vinod Khanna (70) who was recently admitted to HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon dies of cancer. As per the family statements, it was earlier said that Khanna was admitted due to dehydration, but rumours of him suffering from cancer were already being passed. 

Although the family denied the case, fans across the social media believed the fact, based on his worsening health conditions. During the last few days, Khanna’s family also requested privacy from the media. The official statement from the hospital, regarding the same, read, "Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr. Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma."

Lately, his picture was doing rounds on social media platforms and immediately caught the attention of fans globally.

Khanna is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna and children - Akshaye, Rahul, Sakshi and Shradha.

He started his stardom with 'Man Ka Meet', his debut in  1968, and thereafter gave many remarkable characters in  Mera Gaon Mera Desh,  Inkaar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Lahu ke Do Rang, Jurm and many more. Khanna was last seen in the 2015 Shah Rukh Khan film Dilwale.  

After making a mark and delivering success in Bollywood, Khanna gave up the career in the 80s to take up a spiritual journey with Osho Rajneesh. And, five years later, he returned to the industry to deliver other hit films. Vinod Khanna stepped into politics by getting elected from Gurdaspur (with BJP) in the year 1997. This was followed by his journey as a Union minister for culture and tourism in 2002, under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, and then by becoming a minister of state in the External Affairs division.
