With the onset of summer, the days are getting hot for those living in Mumbai. While the city has experienced sunny skies, Maharashtra saw spells of rain earlier this month. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued thunderstorm warnings for Pune, Nasik, Raigad, and Solapur for the coming five days.

The Meteorological Department in its 8:00 am report, on Wednesday, said that Mumbai will experience a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The IMD has predicted that Mumbai will mostly see clear skies throughout the day and by evening/night, the city will see partly cloudy skies. On Tuesday, Mumbai had experienced a relative humidity of 69 per cent.

While the weather in Mumbai has been predicted to be a pleasant one, the air quality in the city was reported to be 'moderate'. Colaba and Bandra recorded a moderate AQI of 70 and 53 respectively. Concerningly, Bandra registered an AQI of 136, which has been deemed 'unhealthy for sensitive groups'. The only green zone in the MMR was Pimpleshwar Mandir in Dombivli with an AQI of 29.

Call it the coronavirus effect or an uncommon occurrence, but the IMD officials have stated that with no major heat waves have been  recorded in the core zones so far and excess rainfall across the country, this summer has been turning out to be unusual.
