On Sunday, the cyclone Gulab that came through the Bay of Bengal to affect the eastern coast, in a rare occurrence, could transform into another cyclone named, Shaheen on Thursday evening, claim reports. This could occur because it is moving along the Arabian sea, after becoming a depression while travelling through the Indian lands of Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Telangana and Maharashtra.

Reports state that through the next 24 hours it could gain speed and on October 1 go towards Oman. In the case that a new cyclone is formed, it will be called Shaheen, the name which has been allocated by Qatar. Interestingly, Qatar is a member country for naming tropical storms through the north Indian Ocean that comprises the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

According to reports, the IMD has signalled towards a possible new system through the western coast. The authority is said to have elaborated that the system may develop into the northeast Arabian sea and Gujarat coast by evening, September 30, with a chance of the system further gaining momentum through the northeast Arabian sea in the course of the 24 hours.

Whilst it is said that the possible new cyclone may not affect Indian weather, it may when it’s travelling from the east to the west. This could cause isolated heavy rains in Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch, and Maharashtra, over the next three to four days that is till Thursday and Friday.

Accounts state that such an occurrence was seen in India during November 10-19, 2018 when the cyclonic storm, Gaja, crossed some states in the south on November 15, 2018, later transforming into a depression. It then resurfaced as a new depression the next day on the southeast Arabian sea. On November 17, it changed into a deep depression and on November 19 became a low-pressure area.
