Heavy rains and thunderstorms have been forecast across Maharashtra for five days by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This is because of a low-pressure belt at Bay of Bengal that will apparently turn into a depression and subsequently into a deep depression over the next few days.

Keeping this in mind, the IMD has issued a yellow alert till Thursday in regions like Thane, Palghar and Raigad while a yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday in Mumbai.
