Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais today inaugurated the ‘Environmental Sustainability Summit' on the theme of 'Harnessing Bamboo Potential for a Sustainable Tomorrow' at Y.B. Chavan Auditorium, Mumbai on Tue (9 Jan). The Governor visited the exhibition of Bamboo products, witnessed the panel discussion and addressed the gathering on the occasion.


This Summit has been organised by Phoenix Foundation, Lodga, Latur in association with the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra, 'Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan', MIDC, MPCB, CIDCO and other organisations. 



State Agricultural Value Commission Chairman Pasha Patel said that experts have warned that Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai will be under water by the year 2050. Earlier, the country used to get precise rainfall according to the constellation. He said that today only two Nakshatras, 'Daghphuti' and 'Dushkal' have been formed. Patel said that it is necessary to create awareness about the environment by saying that the rain that will occur in millimeters is happening in feet today.
