While there was a slight drizzle on Sunday, December 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded the third lowest maximum temperature since 2010.

As per reports, the maximum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius, down from 28.8 degrees Celsius from the previous day. Moreover, before Sunday, the lowest temperature was recorded on December 6, 2017, at 23.3 degrees Celsius. In addition, back in 2010, the lowest maximum temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the IMD, earlier on Sunday predicted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over parts of the interior of Maharashtra, north Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan region in the next two to three days. According to the 24-hour forecast of the IMD, the city of Mumbai may clock rain and thundershowers. Moreover, the minimum temperature is set to drop to around 22 degrees Celsius.

Earlier on Tuesday, December 8, Mumbai experienced its warmest day in December in six years and the second hottest day for the month over the past decade. The maximum temperature at the Santacruz weather observatory, representative of the suburbs and Mumbai, was 36.4 degree Celsius, four degrees Celsius above normal. However, KS Hosalikar, from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier taken to Twitter to inform that the maximum temperature is likely to see a decline in northern and parts of central India from December 11-12.

Hosalikar further predicted that due to the combined effect of UAC in the Arabian Sea and the Western Disturbance in North India, weather in Mumbai and surrounding areas will get gradually cloudy with a chance of light rains. In addition, areas of South Konkan and South Gujarat are also touted to get light rains.
