For the past few days, Mumbaikars have been experiencing hot and humid weather. Residents are likely to get respite from the scorching heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall, as per the report by Free Press Journal. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively.

It is believed that the humidity will be around 68 per cent and the wind will blow from the west at 16 km/h. In numerous districts of Maharashtra, light to moderate rainfall has been anticipated from May 19 to 25, with Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued by IMD in areas including Nashik, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Kolhapur, and Satara districts of Maharashtra.

Why is Mumbai experiencing pre-monsoon rainfall?
Mumbai is currently experiencing pre-monsoon rainfall due to a combination of atmospheric systems and geographical influences. Moisture-laden westerly winds, along with the formation of a trough (a low-pressure area) and the presence of an anticyclone (a high-pressure system) over the Arabian Sea, are driving humid air toward the region. This convergence of factors is leading to the early onset of rainfall in the city.
