Mumbai has been experiencing a brief respite from the heat after witnessing a spell of rising temperatures and severe heat wave conditions in the past few days.

Mumbai also saw unusually cloudy skies for the month of March on Sunday, March 20 and Monday, March 21. On the other hand, the city on Monday, March 21, marked further plunge in the day's maximum temperature at 31.7 degrees Celsius and 32 degree Celsius at Mumbai's both observatory. Whereas, the temperature recorded a day earlier was bit higher at 33.2 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature also saw a slight dip with 23 and 23.5 degrees Celsius today, March 21, from previous day's 23.6 and 24.8 degrees Celsius on IMD’s Santacruz and Colaba observatory.

This marks the first time that Mumbai has seen a below normal daytime temperature since at least March 3.

This is owing to fluctuations in prevailing weather patterns after the formation of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, said IMD officials.

As per the IMD’s seven-day forecast for Mumbai, the daytime maximum temperature in Mumbai will range between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius till March 26, while the minimum temperature will range between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Despite the overcast conditions, Mumbai saw no rainfall on Sunday, as was the case with some districts in central India like Nashik, Beed and Ahmednagar.

Meanwhile, the experts have hinted a spike in the daytime maximum temperature at 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
