With the onset of monsoons across Maharashtra, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Raigad from Monday, July 12 to July 15.

Moreover, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted at isolated places for the next four days. In addition, the IMD has issued a red alert for Ratnagiri and adjoining areas yet again on Monday, followed by an orange alert from July 13 to July 15.

According to reports, the meteorological body has further informed that while isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Maharashtra between July 9 and 13, extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over the ghat areas of central Maharashtra on July 12 and July 13.

Meanwhile, as Mumbai recorded moderate rainfall activity in the last couple of days, the city also recorded a drop in temperatures. On Sunday, July 11, the minimum temperature recorded at the Santacruz observatory was 25.0° Celsius and the maximum temperature was two degrees below normal, at 28.8° Celsius. Whereas the Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 24.0° Celsius and the maximum temperature of 28.6° Celsius.

Furthermore, good rainfall has been forecasted across the country this year. The monsoon arrived ahead of time in various parts of India. The monsoons hit early in Goa, parts of Maharashtra, South Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
