In a substantial development for all the people living across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, monsoons are reportedly likely to revive by the end of this week.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Southwest monsoon, which spans for over four months from June to September, has been on an extended break phase in Maharashtra, like other regions in the south, west and central India since June 20.

However, the IMD has predicted that one or two spells of light-to-moderate rain are likely in Mumbai city and suburbs. According to the regional forecast, Konkan will begin to receive scattered rainfall starting Monday which will improve as the week progresses.

Moreover, above-average rainfall in Maharashtra can be expected this year. The state had received good rainfall last year as well. Vidarbha, Marathwada, South Konkan and Western Maharashtra are expected to receive 35 to 55 per cent above average rainfall. The rest of the state is expected to receive the same amount of rainfall on average.

Meanwhile, the menace of snakes has once again raised concerns for Mumbaikars, and over the last few years, several snakes have been found in Mumbai, especially during the monsoon. Recently, residents from some areas in Bandra and Borivali complained about the same and as per reports, a total of five snakes have been caught in the last two days.
