Cold winds are blowing over the coast including Mumbai as the cold front from the north is active. As a result, Mumbai is witnessing drizzly conditions with the minimum temperature dropping due to partly cloudy skies throughout the day including Mumbai and the coast. It is also likely to feel cold for the next two days.


According to Krishnanand Hosalikar, Head of Meteorological Research and Services Department, Pune, the Western Disturbance, a cold air flow from the north, is active in northern India including the Himalayan region. This cold air stream is moving from the Arabian Sea and has reached the coast including Mumbai. Cold winds have carried with them vapours from the Arabian Sea.

Due to this, cold winds are blowing on the coast and the amount of vapour in the air has increased. On Sunday, Mumbai had more or less cold winds throughout the day. Also, the sky remained partly cloudy due to gusty winds. Due to this, the minimum temperature has decreased along the coast including Mumbai. On Sunday, 23.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dahanu, 23.2 in Harnet, 23.3 in Colaba and 24.4 in Santacruz and 22.7 in Ratnagiri. The minimum temperature has decreased since the last two days. The coast is also expected to receive light showers at isolated places today, Monday.


A cold air stream active in the north is approaching the coast. Due to the increase in water vapour in the air, the weather is partly cloudy. Coastal areas including Mumbai may experience a slight drop in minimum temperature for the next two days. Krishnanand Hosalikar, Head of Meteorological Research and Service Department in Pune also informed that such fluctuations are seen in the temperature in the month of March.
