Mumbai and nearby areas received pre-monsoon showers, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat and humidity that had gripped the city over the past few days.

Several parts of Mumbai, including Mulund, Bhandup, and eastern suburbs, witnessed light to moderate rainfall accompanied by cloudy skies and gusty winds. The sudden change in weather led to a noticeable drop in temperature, offering comfort to residents struggling with the summer heat.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain activity is linked to developing pre-monsoon conditions over the Konkan region. The weather department has predicted more light showers and thunderstorms in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region over the next few days.

The IMD has also indicated that the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala around May 26, earlier than usual. If conditions remain favourable, the monsoon may arrive in Maharashtra during the first week of June and could reach Mumbai around June 5.

Weather experts said the ongoing pre-monsoon activity is expected to continue intermittently, bringing temporary relief from rising temperatures while increasing humidity levels across the region.
