Here's What Aarey Petitioner Zoru Baththena Has To Say On CM Fadnavis's Statement

In a recent press conference that was held at the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) office in Nariman Point, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed that out of the 13,000 objections that he has received against the felling of 2,700 trees at Aarey for the Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) car-shed, 10,000 were from the same IP address.

He further said that the IP address has been traced and the location is Bengaluru. He further added that the activists have repeatedly led emphasis on getting an alternate site for the car-shed but that would cost the government ₹5000 crores. This will make the project 'unfeasible' and later the money will have to be incurred from the citizens by increasing the fares.

Notably, environmental activists like Zoru Baththena and Vanshakti's Stalin Dayanand have opposed the cutting down of 2700 trees and have stated that they are ready to provide proofs of written documents and signatures from people that they have collected from their campaign.

Commenting on the statement issued by CM Devendra Fadnavis, Zoru Baththena said,

It is good to see that the CM is under such immense pressure regarding Aarey. Almost daily we hear various statements made by him with respect to the topic. But it is very sad to see that he has to tell one lie after the other to protect his government's attack on Aarey. CM now claims that 10k objections came from a Bangalore website. But, he hides the fact that over 1 lakh objections were received. He also hides the fact that each objection was from a real person, with a valid name, email ID and cell number. He tries to give a misleading impression that 10k objections were computer-generated.

This is not at all true. Irrespective of where anyone locates their computer server/ website, the objections came from real people, like you or me. In fact, we must thank the CM for his silly choice of words. He is merely infuriating citizens to fight even harder to Save Aarey from such politicians.

The Aarey protests have gained tremendous momentum as thousands of citizens along with celebrities like John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor have extended their support. There have been 4 protests till date in the month of September on Sunday's at the Metro 3 car-shed site at Aarey.
