On Sunday, May 23, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the state of Maharashtra is to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning in the districts of Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri.

Meanwhile, Konkan Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to get isolated, very light to light rain in the next 48 hours.

However, the city of Mumbai and Thane along with other parts of the state including Vidarbha and Marathwada are expected to remain dry. Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky for the next 48 hours in the city. On the other hand, around May 24-25, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Aurangabad and Jalna and other areas of the state are likely to receive very light to downpour along with thunderstorms.

According to reports, after a drop in minimum and maximum temperature in the aftermath of Cyclone Tauktae, a normal temperature was recorded in Mumbai on Sunday. The IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded the maximum at 33.8 degree Celsius and the minimum at 27.8 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, May 17, Cyclone Tauktae became the strongest tropical storm to skirt across Mumbai in at least five decades. As a result, Mumbai experienced its wettest-ever day in May, breaking all previous 24-hour rainfall records as the city received 230 mm rainfall. The rain and gusty winds had brought down the minimum and maximum temperatures considerably. Thanks to this, Mumbaikars are experiencing cool weather in the month of May.
