Several Aarey activists had joined in for Shiv Sena chief and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's oath-taking ceremony at Shivaji Park on November 28 to remind him about his promise for Aarey.  Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray had relentlessly opposed the felling of trees at Aarey Colony for the construction of Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) car-shed. Moreover, NCP MP Supriya Sule had joined the protest once and Congress had also taken this topic seriously during their campaign. Now that these parties are coming together for the formation of the government, the activists perceive it as a ray of hope in their struggle.

According to Aarey activist and founder of Muse Foundation Nishant Bangera,

Shiv Sena has been claiming that the party stands with Aarey. Today, when they have assumed the post of the Chief Minister, citizens see no reason for them to not stand by their word. We want them to declare Aarey as a forest as per the assurance was given in the past.  Also, Congress and NCP should support this since they have also demanded car shed to move out in the past. The government should also not forget that the 29 people arrested are innocent and act on quashing all the criminal charges wrongly levied upon them.
