Ganeshotsav is celebrated with a lot of fervour in Maharashtra. This year the celebrations are subdued due to the coronavirus outbreak. In addition to this, to avoid overcrowding there are certain restrictions put in place regarding immersion of the idol. 

One of the measures through which government is trying to control mass gathering is by creating additional artificial ponds which can be to used to Visarjan. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has created 130 lakes and artificial ponds for this purpose so far. These ponds are 10-12 feet wide and 4 feet deep. 

The government has also appealed to people that they should avoid elaborate celebrations this year keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic. There is also a restriction on the height of the idols that can be used this year. All idols have to be less than 4 feet tall.

Belapur -15

Nerul - 27

Vashi -16

Turbhe - 17

Kopar Khairane - 14

Ghansoli - 17

Airoli - 22

Digha - 7
