In an unfortunate incident, five people almost drowned at Girgaon Chowpatty after one of the boats carrying Lalbaugcha Raja idol flipped in the sea. However, with the intervention of the fire department workers, their lives were saved. During the incident, five people were injured including children.

Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja was immersed on Monday morning at Girgaon Chowpatty around 9:00 in the morning. Devotees in lakhs were gathered at the beach to bid farewell to their beloved deity. However, due to a large number of devotees, the boat suddenly flipped.

After the incident, the injured people were rushed to Nair hospital and are undergoing treatment there. Among the injured was five-year-old Avani including Kajal Mayor (31), Adan Khan (15), Nilesh Bhoir (18), Anita (16).
Nair Hospital informed that of the injured, Anita has been kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but the five-year-old is stable now.
