Ahead of several upcoming festivities in the next month, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that all COVID-19-related restrictions have been withdrawn for the celebrations this year. However, it is necessary to follow all the rules of the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court (HC).

Shinde made these statements while talking to media on Thursday, July 21, after he chaired a review meeting on state’s law and order for upcoming festivities – Ganeshotsav, Dahi Handi and Muharram at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present with other administratives and police officials.

“All types of rules should be followed during Ganeshotsav, Muharram and Dahi Handi. We have removed whatever restrictions were there during COVID-19 but it is necessary to follow all the rules of the Supreme Court and the High Court,” Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde was quoted by ANI.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that a one-window scheme will be implemented for the registration of Ganesh Mandals. Meanwhile, due to coronavirus, there was a limit on the height of idols, which has been removed this time.

Additionally, the CM said that after conducting a study on those who had been booked for minor and major crimes during the festivals, those who had been registered for noise pollution, the possible crimes would be withdrawn.
