The NCPA Spectrum Dance Festival is an annual celebration of dance. This vibrant event brings together talented dancersand choreographers from various genres, showcasing the diversity and dynamism of the dance world. It provides a platform for artistes to experiment with new dance vocabularies whilst retaining the rich legacy of classical dances. The festival provides a captivating experience for audiences, exposing them to the beauty of dance in its various forms, and giving them an opportunity to witness the power of movement as a form of artistic expression.


Beyond showcasing a diverse range of dance genres, this presentation honours numerous cultures that currently shape the dance landscape, propelling the art form to new heights of artistic expression.

1. Join the immersive workshop led by renowned dancer Priyadarsini Govind, exploring the intriguing theme of sibling rivalry. Titled ‘Herambha’ – the workshop delves into a ninda-stuti verse in Sanskrit, where little Ganesha and Muruga playfully complain about each other to their mother, Devi Parvati.

2. ‘Yavanika’ is not just a film; it’s a visual journey in Bharatanatyam. The film explores the relationship of the self with its source, featuring pan-Indian poetry in multiple languages. Each of the seven dance acts has its own soundscape and movement vocabulary, offering a unique and immersive experience.

3. Priyadarsini Govind and Madhavi Mudgal & Troupe will captivate the audience with Bharatanatyam and Odissi performances. Madhavi Mudgal & Troupe present ‘Nava Kalevar: Odissi in Contemporary Couture,’ a fusion of traditional Odissi dance with modern aesthetics. Priyadarsini Govind presents ‘Rang,’ a collection of compositions portraying diverse emotions through Bharatanatyam.

5. Experience the poignant contemporary dance repertoire by Jayachandran Palazhy and Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts. Their performance delves into human existence, exploring themes of connection, freedom, spirituality, and society through pieces like “Jeeva Pravaaha,” “Prayer of a Different Kind,” “Reflections,” “Nava Durga,” and “Vanna Vativukal.”
