Bombay High Court has maintained its stance while sustaining the ban on playing sound systems during Ganpati Visarjan (immersion). Earlier, Bombay HC asked Maharashtra government to provide its viewpoint on the matter.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra government also backed the high court’s decision saying that it supports the ban. Earlier, while hearing the petition filed by Professional Audio and Lightning Association (PALA) to remove the ban on DJ systems, Bombay HC dismissed the demand and said that the problem of noise pollution cannot be ignored.

PALA had filed the petition as the ban affects their bread and butter. In the petition, it is stated that there should be no prosecution until this matter is fully resolved.

Earlier, after Bombay HC upheld the ban, DJ owners across Maharashtra met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to express their disappointment. However, Thackeray played safe and said that if the Ganpati Mandal has no problem, they can play the sound system during immersion.
