The origins of Tonic Water are rooted in India from the pre-independence era. History states that the British Indian army was required to consume the unpalatable medicine called “quinine,” but this was extremely sour. To solve the matter,  the soldiers decided to mix it with sugar and soda, and this eventually gave rise to the Indian Tonic Water.

Some of them cheekily added gin to it and invented what is now known as the Gin and Tonic (G&T)

The simple fact that while India had some amazing Gin but unfortunately a critical element of the G&T just did not exist in India and all we got to consume was commercially manufactured overly sweet and artificial tonic. This begged to ask the question - Why doesn’t India have a botanical mixer of its own?

Sepoy & Co.'s founder Angad Soni, an avid Gin consumer found this gap in the market very intriguing and a place of opportunity, especially in India. This led to the creation of Sepoy & Co. An all-natural and low–sugar botanical mix of the finest oils and flavours.

All the drinks are crafted with discipline and the intention, principally, uncompromisingly, to delight. Sepoy & Co.’s recipes are crafted in London and India by working closely with botanists and mixologists with an intention to find the perfect flavours that would at 1st delight the Indian palate.

The drinks are now available across major cities in the leading retail outlets. We are also the mixer of choice for the best hotels, bars and restaurants across the country. The brand has four much-loved tonics (including classic Indian tonic water, mint, grapefruit & ginger ale) in the market and has just released two new botanical floral flavours - Hibiscus and Elderflower. Another first for the country.

Since its launch in 2018, the brand has been awarded for its taste by the prestigious International Taste Institute in Brussels in 2019 & 2020. And for Branding and Bottle Design by the prestigious Pentawards in 2019.

The brand story conceptualised by Angad & artfully designed by a Norwegian agency OlssønBarbieri won him the Silver Pentaward 2019 in Brand and Bottle Design category. A remarkable feat in the Beverage industry, in a short duration of two years, to be recognised for its efforts & true potential.
