The thing with Parsi food is that you either love it or you hate it. Over the years, Parsi food has become more Indianised. It has a perfect blend of Iranian, Gujrati, British, Portuguese and Goan cuisine. Parsi cuisine does live up to the hype and is loved in Mumbai by all the communities. The city is dotted with charming Parsi restaurants.
Here are some Parsi dishes that we cannot get enough of:
Sali Boti
Tender mutton pieces, it is cooked in onions, tomatoes, vinegar and a range of spices. Topped with fried potato strips which will definitely make your mouth water.
Patra Ni Machi
Machi or fish is steamed in patra or banana leaves, after being marinated in lime juice, some spices and coconut chutney. This healthy dish is delectable too.
Chicken Farcha
Coated with egg and chilly, the chicken is deep-fried after being marinated in seasonings. You must try this out with chutney.
Berry Pulao
A mixture of rice, dried cranberries, vegetables and spices, it tastes best with Dhansak which is a Parsi curry.
Lagan Nu Custard
A famous dessert, usually served at Parsi weddings, it is made with milk, egg and cardamom. In some versions, it has nuts too.
