In a boost to their attacking unit, Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Mumbai City FC (MCFC) have signed Amine Chermiti for the 2019-20 season. The Islanders took Twitter to announce their new Number 9 on Friday, August 9,

The Tunisian striker, who turns 32 this year has a bundle of experience under his belt. Chermiti has appeared at the highest level in three continents. In Europe, he played in both, the Champions League and Europa League with Swiss club FC Zurich. Interestingly, he is the first Tunisian to net a hat-trick in the Europa League.

Previously, during his early playing days, Chermiti had won the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League with Etoile du Sahel in 2007. He was awarded the CAF Africa-based Player of the Year in 2007 for scoring eight goals in the campaign.

While on loan from German club Hertha Berlin, Chermiti had grabbed a runners-up medal in the Asian Champions League with Saudi side Al-Ittihad in 2009.

With Diego Carlos exiting FC Pune City last month, Jorge Costa is now looking to replace the departed duo of Rafael Bastos and Arnold Issoko upfront. Meanwhile, Modou Sougou has extended his stay as the focal point of the three-man attack.

The left-footed striker can also play as a winger, offering a wide range of options to his new club.
