Mumbai City FC have been the dark horses for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2018/19 season but their journey seems to have concluded after a 1-5 hammering at Mumbai Football Arena in the first leg semi-final against FC Goa. While Mumbai look forward to a miracle to make it to the ISL final, the reality has made the Islanders give up their hopes of qualifying.

As they prepare to clash against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on March 12, Mumbai City FC coach Jorge Costa hopes for the Islanders to qualify through an unlikely miracle. Costa understands that no team has overcome such a deficit in Indian football and so, it is almost impossible to get through the decider.

In football and in life, we can never say never but the reality is it is difficult to change this result. To be honest, yes, we have a small chance to change this result. If you want me to say that I'm (Mumbai City FC) here to score six-to-seven goals to change the result, I will try to do this. I have seen things in football that no one would believe, but normally it is difficult to change the result from the first leg," said the Mumbai coach.

Goa has repeatedly smashed Mumbai during their encounters. In October, FC Goa had handed Mumbai City FC a 5-0 defeat at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Goa. However, the Jorge Costa-led side then went on to remain unbeaten in the next nine games.

But again, FC Goa managed to end Mumbai's winning streak at the Mumbai Football Arena in February as they defeated the hosts by 2-0.
