On March 12, Mumbai City FC won 0-1 against FC Goa in the second leg of the Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. However, despite the victory, the Islanders failed to qualify for the ISL final after being knocked out by FC Goa 5-2 aggregate.

The sole goal of the match was scored by Rafael Bastos in the sixth minute but the visitors failed to cash upon the early lead and struggled to score any more goals. Now FC Goa will face Bengaluru FC for the title at the Mumbai Football Arena on March 17.

Later, Mumbai looked to increase their lead as the second half progressed but were helpless against a stable Goa defence and an alert Naveen Kumar. Striker Modou Sougou managed to make a close attempt for a goal late in the game but his effort missed the post by a whisker.

With this, the Islanders' journey in the Indian Super League 2018/19 comes to an end.
