In an attempt to strengthen their defense, Mumbai City FC signed Croatian defender Mato Grgic for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season. The defender joins the Islanders after having helped North East United reach the playoffs last season in the Indian Super League. Mato Grgic impressed the fans and critics in the 2018-19 season of the ISL.
Details of the contract are yet to be declared.

Grgic played a key role in North East United's impressive run in the 2018-19 season. The side had made it to the playoffs for the first time in the ISL. It was Grgic's first season in the competition, having joined the team in September 2018 from Inter Zapresic, a Croatian club.
Mumbai City also made it to the playoffs in 2018-19.
