After being a mainstay with the Highlanders since 2016, the Goa-born player has finally moved on and will be playing under Jorge Costa. After an uneventful 2017-18 season it was Eelco Schattorie who managed to get the best out of the player last season. And now with the manager gone, Borges has decided to go on a different journey.
After going goalless in the 2016 and 2017-18 season that span over 29 matches, Borges first scored for NEUFC in the last minute winner against ATK last season and ended his season with four goals and two assists. However, more than his offensive attributes, it is his physical and aerial superiority and holds up a play that has benefitted his last side as he ended with defensive stats of 53 tackles, 27 interceptions, 29 clearances and 20 blocks last season.
Borges would definitely be a level up for Mumbai City who already has the likes of Pablo Machado, Raynier Fernandes, and Milan Singh. Borges was second only to Bartholomew Ogbeche and Federico Gallego last season in terms of efficacy and would be a huge addition for the side.
