The eighth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22, has recently commenced. Amongst the 11 participating teams, the defending champions of the ISL are Mumbai City FC.

In the opening game of Mumbai City FC's match against FC Goa, on Monday, November 22, Mumbai beat its opponent by 3-0, with goals from Igor Anguloa and Ygor Catatau.
Additionally, fans are of the opinion that it is too early to proclaim that the team will defend the title since certain changes were made to the squad. According to them, however, the amalgamation of experienced and young players with the intent to stick together and style of play could help them achieve the feat.
