106-year old woman from Dombivli recovers from coronavirus infection

Anandibai Patil (106) is a resident of Dombivli West. Upon testing positive for COVID19, many hospitals in the locality were not able to admit her due to the age.

Coronavirus outbreak has claimed thousands of lives across the state and over the last few months, the government and healthcare workers have asked the elderly to be cautious and safe. As per reports, the rate of infection has been high for senior citizens and so is the mortality rate.

However, the 106-year-old grandmother from Thane district has fought the deadly virus. Reports released on September 21, 2020, claimed that Anandibai Patil, a resident of Dombivli was treated successfully for the COVID-19 infection, and she was discharged recently.

Anandibai Patil tested positive for coronavirus, a few days back, but due to her age, several hospitals in the Kalyan-Dombivli area were not able to admit her for treatment. However, the team from Mhatre Sports Complex - a Municipal COVID-19 dedicated Hospital were able to offer her treatment. 

Founder of One Rupee Clinic, Dr Rahul Ghule admitted her at the hospital on September 13, 2020, and Anandibai Patil was later discharged from the hospital after just seven days of treatment. Upon knowing the same, Dr Ghule congratulated the team of doctors and also appreciated them for their efforts.

Maharashtra Cabinet Minister, Aaditya Thackeray, also took to Twitter to share the message, and said,

It is a positive and gratifying feeling for a 106-year-old woman to be discharged after COVID-19 treatment. Often elders across the world have been surrounded by fear and insecurity due to the coronavirus outbreak. Aaditya Thackeray also tweeted about the municipal administration's efforts and praised Dr Rahul Ghule.
