Kalyan-Dombivali Records 329 New COVID-19 Cases And 11 Deaths In The Last 24 Hours

After easing the state-wide lockdown in June, the areas that come under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have witnessed a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. On Thursday, the Kalyan-Dombivali region reported 329 fresh coronavirus patients and 11 new deaths.

Among the new coronavirus patients, 87 were in Kalyan East, 68 in Kalyan West, 79 in Dombivali East, 51 in Dombivali West, 24 in Manda Titwala and 20 patients in Mohana. With these additions, the total number of patients in the Kalyan-Dombivali area has surged to 22,286 and the death toll has reached 425. 

In the last 24 hours, 308 patients have recovered from the deadly virus and have been discharged. Out of the discharged patients, 139 were from Tata Invitational, 12 from the V.H.B.P. Savlaram Maharaj Sports Complex, five from Baj R. R. Hospital & Research Centre and four from Holy Cross Hospital. The rest of the infected patients have been cured from other hospitals as well as from home quarantine.

According to the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), a total of 13,504 patients have been recovered and the recovery rate has gone up to 69 per cent in the region. As of Thursday, the twin-city has 5,787 active coronavirus patients undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported its biggest single-day spike of 11,147 coronavirus cases on Thursday, taking the total tally of the state to 4,11,798. The fatality toll of the state has reached 14,729 and the lockdown has been extended till August 31.
